5 LOW-COST/NO COST MARKETING IDEAS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT IN YOUR BUSINESS TODAY

Aparna Mulchandani
[email protected]
Two by Two

Picture
My name is Aparna Mulchandani and I am the Creative Director of Two by Two, a design & marketing agency located in Ramsey.
I have been a chamber member for many years and am currently the MRCC VP of Marketing.

Here are 5 Low-cost/No cost marketing ideas you can implement in your business *today*!

1. Tell a story with data or milestones
Did you spend 276 days in self quarantine? Did you just complete your 300th project? Did you recently deliver 50 meals to needy neighbors? Create a story using the data. If you have several data points, you can create an infographic to share on your website or social media.

2. Establish your social media presence
Social media can be an effortless way to promote your brand and your business. Set a schedule that works for you. You can talk about a project you just completed. You can post your infographic, video, blog, etc.

3. Build a library of videos
Share your expertise, or perhaps a community service project in a short video - no more than 2 minutes.

4. Contribute to a community non-profit
Now is a great time to help those in need. Pick an organization that you can help - either with a financial contribution or a donation of your time/skills. Write a blog or make a video about it and then share on your social media, website and blog!

5. Share your story via a blog
Be yourself and be authentic. Talk about the struggles and the joys. Use humor to increase enagagement. Make it relateable.
PS: don’t forget that all of these 5 points can be fully integrated and shared on your website, social media.

TAKING ACTION TO HELP THE COMMUNITY

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Family Promise has continued to provide safe shelter and support to working families who are homeless. Due to COVID-19, we cannot shelter families via our volunteer-based Family Promise Network program. As a solution, we are now sheltering homeless families in motel rooms with kitchenettes. Case managers provide constant, personalized support virtually. We also continue to address hunger in our community. For weeks after the outbreak, our volunteers served people in need by providing meals every evening at the Family Promise Walk-In Dinner Program at the county shelter in Hackensack. That shelter is temporarily closed; we now deliver prepared dinners each night to the former residents who have been relocated to nearby motel rooms. We also serve “to go” meals from the loading dock at the shelter. Our promise to the community – we will continue to provide food and shelter to our most vulnerable neighbors.

“HUG FIRST, THEN TEACH”

Picture
My name is Sasha Vinson, I am an MRCC member and Director of Operations for Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academies and I’m here with five tips on activities you can do indoors with your kids.

  1. Dance Party. Choose some music and make it a theme. Add fun costumes and decorations! Tape colored tissue paper to flashlights or lamps for colorful lighting and have a blast dancing to your favorite tunes.
  2. Kid-friendly recipes. There are great non-bake recipes online that are easy for kids! Make up a “menu” for dinner and maybe start a cooking blog on Instagram!
  3. Indoor camping. Set up your tent or create a fort out of blankets. You can even make homemade s’mores! Tell stories, read some books about nature, or even pop some popcorn and watch a movie in your fort!
  4. Scavenger hunt. Hide fun objects around the house for your kids to find. You can even get your child to create their own scavenger hunt for other family members to join.
  5. Creative t-shirt contest. Bust out some old shirts and find fabric markers and other decorating items and use your imagination! You can have your friends vote for their favorite using Facebook, or even have a “runway show” to show off your cool creations!

CFA, ACTION BEYOND THE BAG

“For many years Center for Food Action in Mahwah has helped area residents with emergency food, housing and rental assistance.  The community has so generously supported our good work with donations of food, time and funds and now, many more need our help. The COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent quarantine of our community has caused many households to lose their livelihood and income. CFA is collecting monetary donations to provide food for thousands of the most vulnerable families and individuals in northern New Jersey. www.cfanj.org “

FIVE TIPS TO LOOKING YOUR BEST AND FEELING CONFIDENT ON ALL THOSE ZOOM MEETING!

Fashionista Friends
Cheryl Katz
I’m Cheryl Katz, member of MRCC, and Image Consultant and Creator of Fashionista Friends. Here are 5 tips to looking your best and feeling confident on all those Zoom meetings!

     1. Look professional. Not only is it a message to others that you are ready to do business, it is a message to your brain to up your game which will make you feel empowered.

     2. Wear deep, saturated colors such as teal, purple, emerald green, classic blue, and coral to help reflect warmth upon your face. Black can cast face shadows.88

     3. Contrast with your background. Make sure you do not become a chameleon and fade away. While looking behind you, also make sure your background is not cluttered.

     4. Try to stay away from too much pattern. Big patterns can be distracting while small ones can become buzzy. Layer a solid over any patterns you may want to wear.

     5. Make sure you are projecting yourself at a favorable camera angle. As opposed to the computer camera looking upwards and showcasing under your neck, make sure it’s basically parallel to your face. You can always stack books under your computer and move around the angle of your screen.

Stay safe, make the best out of a difficult situation, and thank you. Any questions, feel free to reach out to me at
[email protected] . My website is: https://fashionistafriends.com/.
My name is Brooke Tateossian, I am a member of the MRCC and my business is The Suburban Concierge. I’d like to share the steps I take when I organize my family's closets!

  • Clear your closet of anything you do not LOVE, does not make you HAPPY, does not FIT or you have NOT WORN in two years!
  • As you remove these items, place them directly into boxes/bags to give away and stack leftover hangers. *Many organizations are not collecting donations now, so you will need to store them for now .
  • Sort by category (tops, jackets, pants, dresses, etc.), next by color and then from shortest to longest. Now you can see which items you have enough of and where you may need to invest!
  •  Tools! If you are short on space, you may want to switch to a slimmer hanger or pants hangers so you can hang several pair together. I also have become a fan of clear shoe boxes so that I can stack shoes to the ceiling and dust will not accumulate on them.
  •  Wipe down those shelves, vacuum the floor and marvel at your beautiful new space!

If you’d like to see examples of some of my previous closet edits, visit www.thescnj.com and feel free to contact me with questions!
